Outsource vs. in-house production: In 2014, 20% of our industry outsourced manufacturing to others. By 2024, it was 40%. CIA predicts by 2027, it will be 50%. Here are just a few reasons for this trend: Need more production space but have outgrown the shop, need to replace worn-out tired equipment but lack funding, cannot find shop operators or those willing to be trained, want to concentrate current machinery on custom work and outsource standard designs to others.
